Happy January 31! Time to give my first update on how my 2013 goals are coming along.
1. Movie List!
I am beginning to sound like a broken record: "We did not watch any movies from the list". We did watch Magic Mike. I'll admit. I laughed. But it is still exactly what you are expecting: Not a good movie.
2. Book List!
I have finished 3 books so far, which is exactly how many I am shooting for each month. I was also trying to have one book a month be a book from my home bookshelf, in an attempt to clear some clutter. Two of the three books this month qualified.
1. The Tie that Binds by Kent Haruf
2. How to Be Good by Nick Hornby*
3. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern*
* indicates a book that I am willing to send to anyone interested! Email me/leave me a comment.
3. Run 500 miles!
500 miles in one year equals 9.6 miles a week, or 41.7 miles a month. Not counting the run I will do this evening, I'm only up to 35 miles this month, and I don't know if I am going to be able to run 6.7 miles on a treadmill tonight, or ever (SNOOOOOORE!). I fully expect that my mileage will increase when I can get outside and am not running like a hamster.
4. Date Night!
Nate and I did not go on a date this month. We did try, but the night we picked out was not conducive to our babysitter's schedule and then we did not try to pick out another night.
5. Organization!
5a: Use the Samples!
We have been doing this.
5b: Organize play room/basement!
This is 3/4 done. The basement has been organized, now we just have to finish the play room downstairs. The basement looks AMAZING. I will probably get around to taking photos one of these days.
5c. Craft purge!
No purchases have been made.
6. Room Redux!
6a: Maggie's room!
Nothing done
6b: Our room!
As I posted yesterday, we have made some progress on this.
6c: Dining room!
Nothing done.
6d: Craft side of the toy room!
Nothing done.
7. Try something new once a month!
I have been intrigued by green smoothies and DIY frozen breakfast burritos and during the month, we have tried both. Green smoothies have now become the staple post-Saturday morning swim lesson snack and I have been having a breakfast burrito as a mid-morning snack. More on this next week!
We also watched two new-to-us shows on DVD: Homeland Season 1 and Girls Season 1. We both LOVED Homeland. Girls was a bit of a toss up. I was very slow to get into it, but by the end of the season, I was liking it. Nate will likely not be joining me on future seasons.
Finally, we tried a new-to-us restaurant: Ristorante Bartolotta. It was very good but not so amazing that we would be returning before trying other restaurants.
Thanks for keeping me honest! Onward February, the BEST month of the year!!!
Why is February the best month of the year?
