We wrapped up 2012 in a big house in Door County, WI (Sister Bay to be exact) with some of my book club friends and their families. Twelve adults, five kids and a LOT of good food. Here are some of the recipes:
Winter Panzanella (Smitten Kitchen)
Baked French Toast (Paula Deen - don't judge. It's delish)
Chocolate Chip Cookies (Jacques Torres via Martha Stewart. Amazeballs)
Baby Greens with Pecans & Pears with Versatile Vinaigrette Dressing
Source: Moosewood Restaurant Simple Suppers Cookbook
Salad
8 cups baby greens or torn romaine or leaf lettuce (about 8 oz)
2 firm, but ripe pears, cut into matchsticks (apples also work)
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese (chevre or blue cheese are variants)
1/2 cup toasted pecans
Dressing
1/3 cup vinegar or lemon juice
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 garlic clove, pressed
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
Whisk or whirl in blender/food processor for a few seconds. Keeps in refrigerator for a few weeks. Let sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before serving
Glad to see the famous choc chip cookies made it!
