Maggie's Books of the Week

I am always on the lookout for new books to find for my little book nerd Maggie.  We get most of our books from the library which helps in keeping the rotation fresh. I am going to try a new series on the blog featuring Maggie's Books of the Week - listing the top books that get added to the read pile every morning and night.   If your kids have favorite stories/books, feel free to add them to the comments!

1.  Olivia Saves the Circus (Seriously, I love this pig!)

2.  Knuffle Bunny (Her favorite part of this book (and others in the Knuffle Bunny series), is actually the title page featuring the family photos of Trixie.)
 3. Dora's Picnic (I think the only reason she likes this is because of the chocolate cupcakes with pink icing that Isa brings to the picnic, which always prompts Maggie to say how much she loves cupcakes.)
4.  Dog.  (I am so over this book.  She has loved it since the moment she got it for her first birthday.  The spine is broken, I've already had to glue pieces on it and know all of the dogs by name.)
5.  Shutterfly Photo Books - we have quite a collection of these going!  I try to make one every six months.

  1. Madeleine's current favorites are:

"I Love You Stinky Face" by Lisa McCourt and Cyd Moore - We're rocking the board book still.

"Tickle Monster" by Josie Bissett and Kevan J. Atteberry - Yes, Josie Bissett from Melrose Place!

"Curious George" by H. A. Rey and Margret Rey - I know there are tons of these, but we have the first one where George meets the man in the yellow hat.

Good post! I'm always looking for new books to read with Madeleine. I've seen those Olivia books, but haven't read them yet. I'll be picking one up on our next trip to the library!!

    1. We love Tickle Monster!! Do you have the version with the blue mittens that turn your hands into the tickle monster hands? Thanks for the list! Definitely check out Olivia - I prefer the classic ones by Ian Falconer to the updated ones :)

    2. We don't, but they show it on the book jacket. We were given it for Christmas.

  2. Knuffle bunny! Dogs! Read what she loves. As a teacher, anything she recognizes is literacy, so highlight the parts she knows and teach the parts she doesn't ;-) borrow a wide variety of books (Henry & mudge ezrah jack Keats etc) and shell get the gist! Characters + problems=solutions
